Donell jones wife
This guy has inspired me to write, to make music and I feel like I owe it to him to pay homage to him. I really felt like it was weird that nobody has done a record for Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson has been an inspiration since I could remember. What inspired you to include this song on this particular album? You also dedicated a song called “I Miss The King” to Michael Jackson on the album. I’m just saying instead of getting yourself in a situation where one night of pleasure can end up as a lifetime of misery, just tell the woman to “Step the f*ck off.” Tell her to step off and you find somebody who is single. What was your inspiration behind this track?Ī lot of men think that guys try to hit on their woman but the majority of the time it’s the opposite way around. The first song leaked off this album was “Step The F*ck Off” back in December 2012. It definitely shows my growth as a human being.
It represents where I’m at in my life right now as far as mentally and my relationship and just life in general. In a recent interview, you said that every album you release represents a time in your life. I really feel like my music has reached the people that needed to hear it. Some people may say that but that’s their opinion. Some people believe that you’re an underrated R&B artist. I’m always constantly trying to learn things about music that I haven’t tried yet. I feel like I haven’t learned everything. It’s something that I loved as a child and still love today. Just really loving the art of making music. What do you believe has been the key to your longevity?
You’ve been in the music industry for many years now. In his interview, he also talked about the key to his longevity, his dream R&B tour, the decline in R&B music sales, relationships, and more. Jones recently sat down with Rated RnB to discuss his new album. On July 9, Jones released his new album “Forever” independently via eOne Music. I am now in a relationship with a beautiful woman named Jasmine and we have a daughter that is 2.With seven albums under his belt, Jones proves that he’s adored in the R&B music community. I have been out of that relationship for a while. It’s untitled as of now.īOSSIP: How many kids do you have Donell?ĭonell: I was with my previous old lady for over a decade.
But the new project is all about love, life, and real everyday things. Some of the songs people have heard and others are never heard. What was the focus behind that one and the future one?ĭONELL: The focus behind Lost Files was me being gone for a minute and wanting to give my fans a brief history of where I have been. Its all new flavor…but its still Donell.īOSSIP: You released in November an album called The Lost Files. I got all new stuff that has been waiting. I could have put out an album, but didn’t want to do it with Jive.īOSSIP: So you got some fire now that you have just been waiting to drop?ĭONELL: Yeah man. Like Maxwell who took his time on his album.īOSSIP: Is that sort of what happened in your case?ĭONELL: Well, it was about my label. They don’t play the real music, and don’t even realize that our following is waiting. They are playing music for the teenie boppers. So the music game gets over-saturated and washed up. See, the internet has made almost everyone a star. Teddy Pendergrass, El DeBarge, Tina Mari, Rick James and so on. I came up when there was a lot of great R&B artist. They are young and just like hip-hop, they have changed and sort of lost the essence of it all… making a woman cry and making her feel good is what R&B is all about.īOSSIP: What do you think is fueling that lack of compassion and caring in todays music?ĭONELL: I think, there is not a lot of guidance and lack of respect enough to study what made R&B special. They don’t sing to the women with sensitivity. Not enough substance.īOSSIP: What about the new generation of R&B?ĭONELL: To be honest with you is they are talented, but they want to be rappers. To many of the R&B artist right NOW are concentrating on bling and how many girls they ran through. So, when this happened to Haiti I felt the song was really needed. When LaFace shut down all the artist went haywire.īOSSIP: What was the approach you took on this latest song, “Free”?ĭONELL: I wrote it around the time of 9/11. They have too many R Kellys, Justin Timberlakes, Ushers, Anthony Hamiltons… I couldn’t get the push i needed. Bossip caught up with Donell Jones to find out What’s up, what’s up, what’s up, with him missing in action from R&B:ĭONELL: I was in a horrible situation with Jive.
